So......our story starts the night before. Shiloh's all tellin' me "don't you be all partyin' tonight, 'cause we wanna get goin early in the morning tomorrow". So, of course I have some beers and all. The next morning I'm all up and raring to go be gay at, like, 9AM. I give Shi and Misty a call and they're all sluggish and just waking up. Pft. Shiloh tells me I'm so gay for being up on time, and I tell her that they're both so gay for being all tired. So around about noonish we all head on down to the Portland waterfront to hang out with all the gay people who are being all gay.
We walked around the waterfront festivities area for a little bit, caught up with a few friends, and got to catch Poison Waters, one of Portland's leading queens getting dunked in the dunk-a-queen booth. After walking around a bit, we worked up a powerful thirst, so, of course, it was time to hit the beer garden....
Here's Misty at the beer garden. Misty bucked the trends and got some vodka punch thingie, even though it was the "BEER garden".....what a rebel.
Misty's so gay.
Here's Shiloh at the beer garden with her gay beer. For some reason, at the "bar" they had this huge picture of a Widmer Bros. beer, yet, for some reason all of their Widmer Bros. beer was called "bud light" and sure didn't taste much like any Widmer beer I've had before.
Anyway.....Shiloh's so gay.
And......me at the beer garden being all gay.
'Cause I'm so gay.
And me and Shiloh..........gay.
Anyway, while we were there, we were joined by one Jerri, aka Buffylaw from Technodyke, who is a totally cool chica......and gay. I didn't get a picture of her for some reason though, which sorta sucks. I think I was still all caught up in pondering that Widmer/Bud Light paradox.
After that we walked around some more and then it was time to go make some sammiches, and after that it was time to go be all gay at the Dyke March.
En route to the March. Misty decided to bring her gay dog Sadie.
We got to the North park blocks, where the march was supposed to be starting, and there were very few people there. We waited around for a bit, and eventually I got a call from Lydia (aka Astrogirl on TD) who travelled in from Corvallis for all the fun. Lydia's a total badass cartoonist, and wandered off at one point to do some drawin'. She's probably drawing something gay here......
After that, more dykes started showing up, and we stopped worrying that maybe we had gone to the wrong place on the wrong day....or something.
Eventually enough dykes (and dykey blue balloons) showed up that we started marching around the streets of Portland. Yay!
One of our friends from TD who was In Charge, ran by at some point and appointed Shi a Marshall of the parade. As soon as she put on that red armband Shi got all millitant and randomly threatened to bust the heads of any dykes that got out of line.
Ok.....just kidding. But, hey, we all know how much dykes dig a chyck in uniform.......rowr. ;P
Yah you dykes!!!!! Clean up yer act!
Obviously we weren't paying a whole lot of attention to patriarchal demands regarding fascist intersections that day.
Here's a picture of, um, more dykes.....marching......
Sadie.....being all gay again. Sadie seemed to be having a whole big buncha fun and probably got told she was cute by a bunch more people than any of us humans did. Pft.
I really kinda like this shot. Two of my most favoritest things....a whole buncha dykes and downtown Portland. Rock!
At some point I remembered that, not only were there a whole lot of cool dykes in front of me, but there were a whole lot of cool dykes behind me. So.....here's some dykes actually facing the camera.
I found out later that apparently the march went down a street that we weren't planned for. I originally took this shot cause I thought it was entertaining that we were disrupting the public transportation. Later I noticed the sign for the Starlight Parade, which had been a week previous.....pft, Portland all trying to play up their not-gay events.
It took about 6 shots to get anything close to a clear shot of this chycks back (people kept walking in front of the camera just as the shutter went off). Its still not entirely clear, but she has the trans symbol painted on her back, followed by "luva". Rock! Trans Luvas Rock!!! :)
Right on and damn right! The march heads into the waterfront area.
We finally made it to the waterfront area, where everyone milled about aimlessly.....as dykes are want to do.
Portland dykes rock. Yah!!!!!!!!!
So, anyway.....after all that fun we hung out for a bit and then headed off to the E-room, where legends of biscuits and gravy were created. Oh yes.
After that was sleepies, then on to DAY 2........
